The Church’s Curtain Call

By Pastor James Black | March 28, 2020

The Church’s Curtain Call is the reminder that Jesus Christ has a work for us to do even in the last days. When we get distracted from our purpose he sends us a reminder as he did to the churches in the Book of Revelation. I want to use Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.; as an outline to help us see what we need in these days. Remember, repent and repeat.

Let’s start with Remember.

Ecc 12:1 ΒΆ Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them;

1- Words: Num 15:40

2- Way: Deut 8:2

3- Worship: Ps 20:7

4- Witness:  Ps 25:6; Lam 3:21-23

5- Works: Ps 77:11

6- Wonders: Matt 16:9

7- Worth: Matt 10:31

8- Warning: Joh 15:20

9- Wrath: Rev 3:3

10- Welcome: Luke 23:42-43

Servants of Jesus Christ, never be discouraged when you are opposed, but when things run counter to your wishes expect that the Lord has provided some better thing for you. C. H. Spurgeon; Seven Wonders of Grace

The Judgment

By Pastor James Black | December 26, 2018

Hades – Revelation 20:14; “alfah” 1 negative tense
+ “eido” to know, behold
Bottomless Pit – Revelation 9:1; “alfah” 1 negative tense
+ “buthos” to pace downward, mystery,
Unbelieving – Revelation 21:8; “alfah” 1 negative tense
+ “pistos” dread, trust

For the lost man, his life without God (alfah) is a life of dread and fear (pistos), downward into depthless, mystery of darkness (buthos) to forever consider and behold (eido) eternity without God.

The Church

By Pastor James Black | December 17, 2018

The church has lost her testimony. She no longer has anything to say to the world. Her once robust shout of assurance has faded away to an evangelistic whisper… her dogmatic declaration has become a respectful suggestion … it is after all only an opinion and not meant to sound bigoted.

A Servant’s Heart

By Pastor James Black | December 14, 2018

A good way to tell if you have a servant’s heart is how you feel toward someone who treats you like a servant.
