The Gospel Elements
By Pastor James Black | January 11, 2010
Have you ever taken the time to consider all of the elements contained in the gospel. It is more than a story in the pages of the Bible – it was an actual event in the lives of many individuals. The primary person was Jesus himself.
The first element I want to consider is the love of God. The song says ” how measureless and sure”. It was the very love of God that began the whole process of the gospel before the foundations of the world. It was the love of God that set the very act into motion at the birth of Jesus. To think that an eternal God loves us enough to give his son as our ransom. There is not any religion that is founded on the principle of love except Christianity. The others are based on making their god happy by working good works.
It is the love of God that gives us comfort and assurance when we have yielded control of our lives to Him. The Holy Spirit helps us to bear the fruit of God’s love in our lives. This brings me to the challenge of gospel love. I John 4:20-21; I John 3:10 tells us that if we are true believers in Christ that this gospel love will be evident in our lives.
Without the elements of the gospel in our lives the gospel becomes a story and not an event! Watch for more elements to follow and may the God of all love touch our hearts with gospel of His son, Jesus Christ.
